Alexia has been thinking about writing ever since her first grade teacher said she has a talent for it in her end-of-year report. She thinks whatever she wrote couldn’t have been that good since she was only six, but she’ll take a compliment where she can get one. She enjoys cooking and eating (but not cleaning up), and watches people play video games on Twitch because she’s too bad at playing them herself.

Her third year as a Media and Communications student has just started, and she’s equally terrified and excited of what her life will look like once she graduates. At best, there will be lots of reading and writing involved; at worst...well, she doesn’t like to dwell on the negative. Recommend her a movie or book and she’ll add it to her list that never seems to end. If she miraculously learns how to manage her time properly, maybe she’ll get around to it in her second or third lifetime.

With a passion for music, photography, film and writing Lidia can be found buying lots of notebooks just to write hundreds of unfinished poems in scattered notes. Going into her final year of Media and Communications at Goldsmiths University, she decided to finally start processing her emotions by writing them out and letting the world know how the youth feels during these unprecedented times. When asked how she describes herself she stated: “I’m just a Spanish girl who doesn’t know how to dance but does it all the time anyway because it feels great. And this doesn’t just apply to dancing; this applies to everything I do in life”.

So many things inspire and excite Samara, but writing has to be one of the top three (the other two being puzzles and her pets!). The Covid-19 lockdown has pushed her to be creative, as a means of escaping the seemingly mundane routines and scenery. Samara chose to create and write for Unauthorized Perspectives with her lovely university coursemates as a means of catharsis and expression. Writing for Samara is liberating. Whenever she has experienced something traumatic or even something great, she takes to writing – whether that is on Microsoft Word or in her journal. The idea of penning down her views, opinions, emotions and memories fascinates her and with Unauthorized Perspectives she hopes to continue with that however this time, she is sharing her mind, soul and words with whoever chooses to receive and engage with them. She is not an award-winning author by any standard, but she writes with emotion and she writes what is raw, painful and most of all personal.

KATRINA SPROGE

While entering her final year of BA Media & Communications, Katrina's experiences cannot be measured in words but rather in the colourfulness of it all. Absorb the fact that in her 22 years she has been a postwoman, Private (as in military), hand actress, Tiffany & Co's ambassador, fundraiser, casino card dealer and last but not least - cheese factory worker. However, her real passion is visual media and she hopes to one day make money by writing and producing ridiculous but touching movies. If Katrina has to describe herself, she likes the term 'lovable nerd' - knows unnecessary trivia, all lyrics to most songs, enjoys playing Sims, but overall - a deeply caring individual. She is also Latvian which is a diagnosis for calmness, practicality and love for Rasols (google that).
